Being a leader in the community has its perks in many ways and one of the best perks is that you can use your influence for those in need. The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has been placing local business leaders into jail as a fun and unique way of raising awareness and funds for their important mission. The MDA has been working hard since 1950 to raise funds to advance research for treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy.
Most of us grew up watching the telethons on television hosted by their volunteer National Chairman, Jerry Lewis; a post he held for 55 years. Today, the MDA is changing the way that they are reaching out to the public to support their vision and mission of a cure for over 40 neuromuscular diseases that are seen in both children and adults. Now, MDA is reaching out through 3 hour specials on television with live stream on their website www.mda.org; by accepting text donations or donations on their site and through fun activities like The Lock-Up for MDA.
Bo Manry, the President and Co-Founder of Checks-Superstore, located in Georgia, is graciously allowing himself to be “arrested” and go into the MDA Lock-Up on March 27th, 2013. Mr. Manry’s bail is $3200 and we are reaching out to our customers, vendors and friends for help to spring our boss! If you find it in your heart to help Bo, you can make a donation on his personal page http://www2.mda.org/goto/bo.manry . Your donations to the MDA Lock-Up are used to provide valuable lifesaving research; help support a nationwide network of medical clinics and provide summer camp experiences to adults, children and their families that are affected by neuromuscular diseases.
We thank you for your support of this great cause. If you have loved ones affected by this disease, you can also find Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Checks at Checks-Superstore, as a reminder to others of the fight still needed for a cure.
